Chief Justice Rabner has issued the 2026-27 General Assignment Order, which is available here. As regards the Appellate Division, some things have changed while others remain the same.

The General Assignment Order reflects two retirements. Chief Judge Sumners and Judge Susswein are leaving the Appellate Division. (In a separate order, available here, Judge Susswein has already been recalled to judicial service and assigned to the Mercer County Criminal Division).

Starting at the top, as discussed here, Judge Currier will become Chief Judge of the Appellate Division. Judge Mawla will succeed her as Deputy Presiding Judge for Administration. Each of those judges will retain their roles as Presiding Judges of Parts (Parts B and C, respectively).

The Appellate Division will once again comprise seven Parts. Judge Rose will ascend to the role of Presiding Judge of Part F, replacing the retiring Chief Judge Sumners. The lineup of Presiding Judges for other Parts will remain the same: Part A- Judge Sabatino; Part D- Judge Gooden Brown; Part E- Judge Gilson; Part G- Judge Mayer.

The Parts themselves will each comprise four judges. Parts E and G will each have a “Temporary Assignee,” a player to be named later.
