The 2025-26 General Assignment Order

Chief Justice Rabner announced the 2025-26 General Assignment Order. It is available here.

There are once again seven Parts of Appellate Division judges. All Parts except for Part G comprise four judges, while Part G has five judges. As always, the composition of the various Parts has been rejiggered. Judges Sumners and Currier remain as Chief Judge and Deputy Presiding Judge for Administration, respectively.

The roster of Presiding Judges of the various Parts entails only one change from last Term. That is in Part C, where Judge Mawla has ascended to the role of Presiding Judge. The other Presiding Judges are Judge Sabatino for Part A, Judge Currier for Part B, Judge Gooden Brown for Part D, Judge Gilson for Part E, Chief Judge Sumners for Part F, and Judge Mayer for Part G.

This Term will commence with no temporarily assigned judges. The only current Appellate Division judge who will reach the mandatory retirement age of 70 in 2026 is Judge Susswein. Thus, absent anything unexpected, the composition of the Appellate Division this Term is likely to be fairly stable.
